Robert Deblander – Porcelain bottle

1450

This glazed porcelain bottle is from one of Robert Deblander’s most iconic series, the bottle series. This elegant bottle is one of the purest expressions of the artist’s work. This slender bottle shape with a flattened neck was born from the encounter between the ceramist and a Hittite shape admired in a museum.

The works of the artist are today present in many public collections such as those of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, the National Museum of Sevres, or the Museum of Friechen in Cologne (Germany).

Stamp of the artist, signature and inscription “46B 128” under the base.

BIOGRAPHY

Robert Deblander (1924-2010) is one of the major ceramists of the second half of the 20th century. Although he first studied at the École nationale des Arts Décoratifs (National School of Decorative Arts), it was at Dieulefit (France) that he learned ceramic techniques. In the course of his career, he successively modelled earthenware, stoneware and porcelain to fashion works of great elegance. His creations are marked by a permanent search for formal purity and an exemplary quality of realization.
