Roger Capron (1922-2006), after having followed the teachings of the decorator René Gabriel, joined forces with the ceramist Robert Picault. In 1946, they founded together the Callis workshop in Vallauris. His activity as an independent ceramist fully asserts itself from 1952 thanks to the purchase of a disused factory. From this date, his production diversifies from utilitarian creations to the realization of large projects of architectural ceramics. Roger Capron is today one of the most popular ceramists of the 20th century.
